Why did Jesus never write a book?
For someone of great clarity
who would surely know
as people misunderstood him
they would misunderstand his teachings

I would write a book
I mean
for the sake of being clear

but there must have been a reason he didn't

Jesus had the option of writing a book
but didn't
it was a conscious choice

not only that
but having that clarity Jesus had

he never mentioned a book would be written in his name
never said, follow my book
read it
remember it

he turned to his friends
and loved them
with compulsion

he knew the secret was not understandable
only by heart alone is it clear
and he spent his live trying to reveal that secret

humanity is passed person to person
not by knowledge
but by love
